BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT
The Bartlesville Bruins and Lady Bruins soccer teams wrapped up their regular seasons at the end of April. In competitive Class 6A, neither team advanced to postseason play.
BRUINS
The Bruins finished fifth in Class 6A-3 with a 6-7-1 overall record and a 3-3-1 mark in district play. During the season, the Bruins defeated Sapulpa, Ponca City, Will Rogers College, Mustang and Sand Springs. They also shut out Muskogee 4-0 on April 24.
The Class 6A boys soccer state championship is underway, with Broken Arrow and Owasso vying for the title Saturday.
Seniors on this year’s squad were Ariel Robledo, Carson Cole, David Fries, Dillon Burson, Eduardo Portillo, Gio Robledo, Jackson Belong, Tanner Walsh and Taylon Sutton.
The Bruins are coached by Cedric Muteshi and assistant coach Hosteen Walsh.

LADY BRUINS
The Lady Bruins leaned into a developmental year with a young roster, starting strong with five wins, including a victory in a preseason tournament at Bixby. They finished the regular season with a 5-7 record.
According to Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association rankings, their only district win was a 2-1 overtime victory at Muskogee. Highlighting the team's underclassman talent, junior Presli Cox scored both goals.
In their final game against Broken Arrow, senior goalkeeper Rylann O’Bannion had 20 saves, but Broken Arrow controlled possession nearly the entire match en route to a 7-0 win.
The Class 6A girls soccer state championship game is Friday between Westmoore and Bixby.
Spencer White coaches the Lady Bruins. Graduating seniors who anchored the young squad include O’Bannion, defender Bailey O’Neal, forward Kinzie Doss, and midfielders Rebekah Stephens and Itza Almanza.
