BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Following are summaries of Oklahoma Wesleyan University sports from September 1-6.

MEN’S SOCCER

Head coach: Jamie Peterson

The good news is the Eagles are still unbeaten.

But through three games they’ve tied two opponents, including last week’s 1-1 deadlock against Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

The scoring came at both ends of the match, which was hosted by Shreveport.

Less than four minutes after the opening whistle Biel Campo ripped a goal for OKWU. Julian Tovar and Tylor Guerrero both received an assist.

The 1-0 lead held up until the final five minutes. With 4:10 left, LSU-Shreveport knotted the score, 1-1.

Being that it was a non-conference match, there was no overtime.

Biel belted two of OKWU’s four shots on goal. Vitor Meirinho and Tovar each added one.

Marko Rodic produced yeoman’s work in goal for OKWU by making seven saves.

Next up, the Eagles travel Thursday to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian University.

NAIA NATIONAL POLL: The Eagles inched up to No. 4 in the nation in last week’s coaches poll.
