BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

The Oklahoma Wesleyan University softball team concluded its season with a 33-18 overall record and 18-8 in conference play. The Lady Eagles' season ended on May 1 with a 5-1 loss to Avila University in the KCAC Tournament in Branson, Mo. They recorded one win in the tournament, defeating Kansas Wesleyan University 9-4, but lost the opening game to Ottawa University 5-1.

Five Lady Eagles earned KCAC All-Conference honors, with Raegan Rector named to the first team at first base. Saige Lovelle, Jessica Watson, Maddy Wiese, and Brooklyn Purtell were named to the second team, while Gabriella Simpson earned a spot on the third team.

Carley Billings was honored as OKWU’s Champion of Character.

The team's stats were led by Rector's .474 batting average, 73 hits, three home runs, and 43 RBI. Purtell led the team with five home runs, while Watson had 40 RBI and scored 42 runs.

In pitching, Gabby Simpson started 19 games, pitched 117.2 innings, and recorded nine wins. Saige Lovelle pitched 73.1 innings with seven wins, and Teri Stanton had four wins in 60 innings pitched.

The Lady Eagles are coached by Shawn Woods.

TRACK AND FIELD

Lady Eagle Natalia Quiroz earned her first KCAC Championship title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an 11:20.35 time, breaking her own record for the second time this season. She will represent the Lady Eagles at nationals later this month.

TENNIS

Lady Eagle Rocio Espinal was named KCAC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the all-conference first team. OKWU head coach Julia Mongin was named the 2025 KCAC Head Coach of the Year, leading the women's team to a 17-5 record.
