local athletic kudos: ok freeze FIND SUCCESS AT MAYB NATIONALS; BOND, YALES PLAY INDIANAPOLIS

The OK Freeze 9th-10th grade basketball team made it to the Elite Eight in the Mid America Youth Basketball in Wichita last month. Coached by Jason Barta, the team is made up from of players from Bartlesville and Pawhuska. Team members include: Blaine Manning, Luke Massey, Darien West, Hunter Holmes, Jenson Snodgrass, Jackson Barta, Owen Hay, Caleb Osborn, Sutton Huff and Brycen Gutierrez.

Local softball players Londyn Bond, right, and Kelsie Yales represented the Oklahoma Athletics National Madden-Brown in the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series in Indianapolis last month. The Athletics played 13 games over five days, placing third in the Tier 1 defeating the No. 1, 4, 10, 17, 18 and 29 seeds.

Bond, a Dewey Lady Bulldogger, batted .329 AVG and had a .395 OBP. She also smacked her 66th career homer that helped seal a Final 4 berth.

Bartlesville Lady Bruin Kelsie Yales threw 24.2 innings, striking out 25 with a 3.973 ERA.

The Athletics are led by ace Keegan Baker, who has committed to the University of Oklahoma.
