Former Bartlesville High School golf coach Terry Hughes tore through the match-play bracket to capture the Oklahoma Golf Association Super Senior State Amateur Championship last Thursday.
Hughes secured the state crown by defeating Jerry Nick in the final match, capping off a dominant tournament run. To reach the championship round, Hughes first knocked out fellow Bartlesville golfer Shawn Barker in the quarterfinals before outlasting Kirk Wright in the semifinals.
The tournament run began earlier that week when Hughes shot a 3-over-par 75 in the opening round to qualify for the final eight-player match-play field. He was part of a strong three-man Bartlesville contingent that advanced past stroke play, joining Barker and Steve Hughes.
The state title adds to a decorated stretch for the longtime high school coach and athletic administrator, who also claimed the Bartlesville City Golf Championship in 2025.
