BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Before, during and after the high school football season one word loomed large — UNUSUAL.

The preseason was rocked by multiple big stories, including transfer of quarterback Kane Foreman from Copan to Pawhuska, coupled with the resignation of his dad Marshall Foreman as the Copan head coach in order to join the Pawhuska staff.

Another major offseason story saw Scott Sapulpa named as the new Dewey head coach in late spring/early summer.

A major shocker occurred at the start of August practice when Wesleyan Christian School announced it was suspending its varsity season due to a shortage of players.

There were many storylines to wrap the regular season and playoffs together, including Pawhuska powering into the state semifinals, the Caney Valley (Kan.) Bullpups returning to the state quarterfinals, Bartlesville bouncing back from an 0-6 start to make the playoffs, Dewey making its first serious playoff bid in six seasons, Copan duplicating its 8-3 record and other happenings.

Postseason stunners included the resignation of Harry Wright as Bartlesville head coach and the decision of Pawhuska head coach Matt Hennesy to move into the Bartlesville job.

Following is a list of the Bartlesville Area Sports Report 2025 All-Area Football Team, composed of players from the 10 core teams that we followed all season.

We’ve put special emphasis on a category called “Athlete” in order to honor those athletes who excelled in multiple phases, including leadership.

Some of the position groups were extremely loaded with strong performers and the choices were very hard. We tried to take into consideration the impact these players had within their own realm of competition.

But we’re also confident many of these players could have excelled on any level.
