TOP ATHLETE OF THE PAST 30 YEARS: COOPER FOGLE (CANEY VALLEY)

BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

During his nearly 30 years of covering area high school sports for either the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise or the Bartlesville Area Sports Report, Mike Tupa has enjoyed the opportunity to observe some incredible athletes.

This is an ongoing series highlighting each few days one of those athletes from the 1996-97 school year through the present. The list is not in chronological order. The athletes are presented in random sequence.

TODAY'S SPOTLIGHT

COOPER FOGLE (Caney Valley)

Multiple sports (2020s

Fogle’s success in state pole vault competition was as simple as 1-2-3-4. He won the gold in 2023 (12-6), the silver in 2022 (11-6), the bronze in 2024 (13-0) and fourth place in 2021 (11-0).

In non-state competition in 2024, Fogle set the school record (14-0) in the pole vault.

His championship in 2023 was the first state track title by a Caney Valley boys since 2011.

Fogle also excelled in every way for the Trojan football team — on special teams, offense and defense — despite his compact size (listed at 5-8, 140 pounds).

He was one of the state’s elite kickers and he averaged more than 100 tackles a year for four seasons. As a junior, Fogle pulled in more than 800 yards as a receiver.

He even drop-kicked an extra point in 2022 against Pawhuska.

In a 38-0 win against Wyandotte, Fogle recorded a 51-yard receiving touchdown. Fogle also rushed for 95 yards in a loss to unbeaten Rejoice Christian.

He led the state (Class 2A) in 2023 in tackles and punt average, stood at number two in kick-off returns and ranked third in PATs.

Fogle also excelled in basketball for Caney Valley.

But all that is just part of the story. Fogle competed at school golf and in youth soccer as well.

In short, he was a warrior for all seasons — and for all-time in Washington County high school athletics.
