Talk about parity.
The Football Club (FC) Bartlesville Buffaloes elevated the concept of team balance to an amazing height in last week’s semipro soccer postseason win at Custer Stadium. As a result, they will be playing at home this weekend for a title.
The Buffaloes swept past the Arkansas Comets, 8-2, to in the OK-AR playoff semifinals of United Premier Soccer League Premier Division.
They are scheduled to be back in action at 7 p.m. Sunday at Custer against the Little Rock (Ark.) Rangers for the OK-AR championship.
The semifinal win against the Comets was not a surprise — the Buffaloes had mauled them earlier in the season, 8-0.
But, what was amazing was the goal distribution in last weekend’s win — eight different players scored one goal apiece.
“That tells a lot about us,” and the number of quality weapons the team boasts said associate head coach Ivan Ristic — who also scored one of the eight goals.
Some other of the goal-tallying Buffaloes included Nikita Pakhomov, Aidan De Ganness, Nemanja Vukovic, Brandon O’Rourke, Adam Sherwood, Julian Tovar and Stefan Cvetanovic,
Iker Gonzalez handled goalkeeping duties.
According to the its website, the FC Bartlesville Buffaloes team was established by four Oklahoma Wesleyan University alumni.
