BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Following is a recap of the Bartlesville Braves summer baseball team.

____

The Bartlesville Braves AA team finished its season 11-8-1.

The Braves started strong, winning their first three games, outscoring their opponents 30-9, including a 16-1 run-rule over Oklahoma Drive in June.

Perhaps one of the most notable wins was during the 67th Glen Winget Memorial Baseball Tournament in Bartlesville on July 3, when the 16U Braves defeated the 17U Kickapoo Parents, 6-4. Kickapoo led 2-0 going into the bottom of the third inning when the Braves came back to score six runs to go up 6-3 after three innings. Kickapoo scored two runs in the fifth inning, but the Braves’ defense held on for the win.

Braxton Loudermilk picked up the win for the Braves, going 4.1 innings, giving up five hits, four runs, and striking out four batters. Cole Martin came in relief for 2.2 innings, giving up two hits and striking out one batter.

The Braves also played in the 17-and-under Oklahoma American Legion AA State Tournament, defeating the host Ada A’s 17-and-under club at Seminole State College.

The Braves scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, fueled by a triple from Luke Massey, to go ahead 5-3. Bartlesville scored six more runs over the next two innings to end the game early in the fifth inning.

Braden Neill also had a triple and a double in the game. Braxton Loudermilk picked up the win, pitching all five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out five batters.

Gavin Thomas swiped five stolen bases, followed by Jackson Fox with two. Zane Boswell and Ayden Sheline each had a stolen base.

Massey had three RBIs, while Neill, Ty Howard and Sheline each had two. Hunter Cales added an RBI.

The Braves then dropped two games to the Tigers American Legion team to end Bartlesville’s season.

It has been three years since Bartlesville fielded a Braves team.

Bartlesville Brave Kayden Harjo is safe at second base during the Glen Winget Memorial Tournament in July at Bill Doennges Memorial Stadium. The AA team finished its season 11-8-1.
