BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Dewey High School will host regional play starting this Thursday, as the 25-7 Bulldoggers head into the postseason with plenty of momentum.

They wrapped up their district schedule with a 12-2 mark, finishing in a dead heat with Metro Christian for the top spot in the standings. While the two teams remained tied at the end of the regular season, the district title was officially decided by a tiebreaker based on the margin of runs scored, which went in Metro’s favor.

Head Coach Riley Allen leads a veteran squad that returned nearly its entire roster from last season's regional final run. The Bulldogger lineup is highlighted by Easton Davis and Layne Gastel, a pair of veteran leaders who have consistently powered the team’s production at the plate and on the mound this season.

The infield is anchored by senior Parker Garrison, a four-year starter at third base and catcher, while Eddie Rice serves as a constant threat on the basepaths. The Doggers ended the regular season on a strong note, sweeping Sperry 19-3 and 14-11. Davis provided a highlight in a 14-1 win over Cleveland, smacking two home runs.

The three-day tournament at Dewey will feature a double-elimination four-team field, including Hugo and Beggs. The Bulldoggers open their run Thursday at 11 a.m. against a winless Westville team. Dewey will need to navigate the bracket to advance toward the state tournament, scheduled for May 14–16, 2026.
