Bartlesville netters nail down 3rd place at regional, qualify 5 for state; junior high boys and girls finish state

Bartlesville High School’s boys tennis team earned a net dividend at Monday’s Class 6A regional tournament.

The Bruins qualified five of their six players for this weekend’s state tournament.

Leading the way Monday was Owen May, who won the regional championship at No. 1 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Johnny Colmenero and Carson Covington punched their ticket to state by finishing second.

The No. 2 doubles duo of Bash White and Mark Shaw nailed down fourth place to also secure their state reservation.

No. 2 singles player Hunter Breslin placed sixth and barely missed going to state.

Bartlesville finished third as a team at the regional.

The Bartlesville junior high tennis teams just wrapped up state action at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

On the boys side, Jack Ihrig finished 10th in No. 1 singles. Silas Otten was 13th in No. 2 singles. Rylan Green and KP finished fifth in No. 1 doubles. Tieg Christensen and Peter King placed seventh in No. 2 doubles.

Sophie Kelley finished 7th in No. 1 singles for the girls. Mathi Jayaprasad was 13th in No. 2 singles. Josie Childers and Lydia Daniels were 13th in No. 1 doubles. Berkley Frye and Addie Kuntz were 11th in No. 2 doubles.
