BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT
In what was likely the most lopsided victory in team history, the Bartlesville High School girls’ basketball team achieved its eighth win with feverish flair on Tuesday.
Paced by five different players in double-figure scoring, the Lady Bruins (8-5) flummoxed Capitol Hill, 79-3, in front of an appreciative crowd at the Bruin Fieldhouse.
Sami Sheaffer buried 19 points, followed by Cadence Gray, Kenzie Denny and Addison Jones with 12 apiece and Emma Zimmer with 11, according to unofficial stats. Jaylin Manley added six.
In the boys’ game that followed, Bartlesville (6-7) surpassed 80 points for the third time this season while bagging the Wolves of Capitol Hill, 81-27.
The Bruins recorded their third-straight win and have doubled their victory total from both last year and the previous season.
Bartlesville has also delivered three 80-plus point games in a season for only the second time in the last 25 years.
Next up, the Bruins and Lady Bruins hit the road this Friday for Stillwater and will be back home next Tuesday to face Broken Arrow.
Following are more details from Tuesday’s sweep of Capitol Hill.

GIRLS: Bartlesville 79, Capitol Hill 3
Not a whole lot of decisive action to describe.
With Sheaffer unleashing a hot offensive hand early, the Lady Bruins accelerated ahead, leaving the Lady Wolves choking on their exhaust smoke.
By the middle of the second quarter Bartlesville led, 40-0.
Following a two-point by Sheaffer and a triple by Gray and Bartlesville — which is coached by Justyn Shaw — surged into halftime with a 45-0 advantage.
Denny opened the third quarter with field goals close together, Jones deposited a fast break layup off a steal and Zimmerman hit multiple buckets to help widen the gap to 60-0.
After Manley pushed the lead to 64-0, Capitol Hill finally scored its first point — on a free throw with 16 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was basically more of the same as the Lady Bruins’ main rotation pretty much went the distance — with a running clock throughout the second half — to wrap up the 76-point win.

BOYS: Bartlesville 81, Capitol Hill 27
Bartlesville displayed a broad hand of balance with five players scoring between 10-to-12 points — Dennis Duncan, 12; Luke Massey, 11; Jackson Barta, 11; Trae Collins, 10; and Hudson Eads, 10. Hunter Holmes and Tytan Berry added nine and eight points, respectively.
Rounding out the Bartlesville scorers were Titus Huck and Skyler Carter with five apiece.
For the second time in three games the Bruins also microwaved the nets with three-pointers. On Friday they nailed 17 treys spread among 10 players. Against Capitol Hill they netted 13 treys off the fingertips of seven different players.
Bartlesville bolted to a 10-0 lead, including three-pointers by Collins (off an assist from Duncan, whose laser passes played a sizzling factor) and Duncan.
Eads and Duncan both amassed 10 points in the first half — and Massey hit three three-pointers — to help power the Bruins to a 60-15 halftime lead.
Bruin head coach Jake Christenson had already started to sub liberally in the first half. The reserves displayed plenty of firepower in the half, including a pair of treys by Barta and four field goals by Berry.
Bartlesville’s offense hit the doldrums in the third quarter, scoring only two points (by Carter) and allowed Capitol Hill to go on a 10-2 run.
But Christenson reinserted some of his main rotation and the Bruins finished strong — with Duncan providing stability to the attack — to score 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Holmes and Barta provided multiple buckets and Duncan contributed both points and high-quality assists. Collins put in the Bruins’ final points.
