EAGLE BASKETBALL
This is the way to bounce back.
Coming off a tough loss last week, the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles flounced MidAmerica Nazarene, 76-69, in men’s basketball action Tuesday.
The Eagles — who played in their true home opener — winged to a big halftime lead, 44-32, and swooped to victory.
Balanced scoring defined OKWU’s offense — Humberto Kentish Jr. 17 points, Tamaje Izuagbe 13, Yashi McKenzie 10, Malachi Okunbor 10 and Ethan Williams 9.
Kentish and Okunbor both dropped in two three-pointers.
Had the Eagles improved a bit on their free throw shooting (15-of-25) it would have been an even more decisive win.
Nick Bene and Izuagbe both tore down eight rebounds, followed by Kentish with six. Williams dished out six assists.
The Eagles — who are coached by Donnie Bostwick — improved to 2-1. Bostwick also moved to 497 career wins.
Next up, the Eagles will be back home Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) to host Texas Wesleyan University. Then they’ll be off for a week until November 15.
