KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sydney Collins, a senior standout from Oklahoma Wesleyan, has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week. This accolade comes as a result of her exceptional performances in the matches held on August 22 and 23, where she showcased her skills and leadership on the court.
Collins' impressive stats during the week speak volumes about her contribution to the team's success. In the match on August 22 against Valley City State (N.D.), which received votes in the preseason poll, Collins delivered 56 assists with an outstanding average of 14.00 assists per set, leading her team to a 3-1 victory. Her defensive prowess was also evident as she completed a double-double with 11 digs to complement her 56 assists.
Later that day, Collins continued her stellar play against Rocky Mountain (Mont.), where she notched 45 assists with an average of 11.25 assists per set. She also added 10 digs for her second double-double of the season with the addition of 2 kills and an ace, helping secure another 3-1 win for the Eagles.
On August 23, Collins maintained her high level of play in a 3-0 sweep against RV Morningside (Iowa). She amassed 35 assists with an average of 11.67 assists per set and contributed defensively with 11 digs for her third double-double.
Overall, Collins' performances over these matches resulted in a total of 136 assists, averaging an impressive 12.36 assists per set. Her defensive contributions included 32 digs, with an average of 2.91 digs per set.
