The Lady Eagles (23-3) — which are ranked in the Top 10 nationally — scrapped valiantly to turn back a stubborn KWU side, 25-22, 30-28, 25-20, in a stellar Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference first-round showdown.
OKWU led in the major stat categories — kills 46-44, service aces 6-2, blocks 9-8, assists 44-38 and digs 56-49.
Maia Rubio put away 16 kills, followed by Evelyn Rohrberg with 14, to spearhead OKWU's withering attack at the net. Maria Andrea Santa Cruz Cossich added nine kills.
