Bartlesville High School’s softball team launched its season with a big exclamation point on Friday by hurling a shutout in its opener at the USA Softball Festival in Oklahoma City.
Kelsie Yales dominated in the pitching circle to drop Elgin, 3-0, on Friday.
On Saturday, Bartlesville blanked another foe, routing Altus, 8-0, to close out the festival.
However, the Lady Bruins also dropped a couple of close contests — to Enid on Friday, 2-1, and to Piedmont on Saturday, 6-2 — to finish the weekend action with a 2-2 record.
Next up, the Lady Bruins — who are coached by Kyle Minton — eye their home opener on Monday against Bixby. The varsity game is set for 7 p.m.

BARTLESVILLE 3, ELGIN 0
Energized by Kelsie Yales’ one-hitter — with seven strikeouts and just one walk — energized the Lady Bruins.
Yales faced only 25 batters and uncorked 84 pitches — 61 of them strikes.
Bartlesville — which is coached by Kyle Minton — inched out to a 2-0 lead in the early innings and held on for the shutout despite three defensive errors.
Madie Nachbor — who was on the receiving end of Yales’ circle masterpiece — ripped two singles to lead Bartlesville’s six-hit attack.
Jasmine Campbell and Josie Childers both singled and drove in a run. Erin Bridendolph and Lydia Daniels also each poked a base hit.

ENID 2, BARTLESVILLE 1
In Bartlesville’s second game, Enid eked out a 2-1 victory — despite a picturesque pitching gem by Alison Rosson. She snapped off a four-hitter with no walks and two K’s. Nachbor was her batterymate.
Daniels belted a single and drove home Kenzie Denny — who had doubled — for Bartlesville’s run in the top of the seventh inning during a last-ditch comeback effort.

PIEDMONT 6, BARTLESVILLE 2
Piedmont poured it on late — scoring five runs the final two innings — to rally past Bartlesville.
The Lady Bruins powered to a 2-1 lead in the third inning with Nachbor driving home courtesy runner P. Bryant and Campbell plating Bridendolph.
Hitting highlights included Savannah Alden socking two base hits while Bridendolph, Nachbor, Campbell and Denny each singled.
Nachbor added a sacrifice while Bridendolph pilfered two bases.
A. Emmert doubled and drove in two runs for Piedmont while N. Jeffries added a triple.
Yales suffered the pitching loss despite striking out 10 batters in 5.0 innings. She didn’t give up a walk.

BARTLESVILLE 8, ALTUS 0
Rosson harvested her first pitching win of the season by pitching a three-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts. Nachbor handled catching duties.
The Lady Bruin offense uncorked an explosive attack with 10 hits — including a double each by Yales and Bridendolph.
Nachbor and Campbell each drove in two runs. Recording one RBI each were Alden (sacrifice fly), Yales, D. Brown and Daniels.
Bridendolph, Campbell and Yales each ripped two hits. Bridendolph stole three bases and scored three runs.
