COPAN
Paced the talented trio of Katie Donaho, Zoey Secondine and Jacklyn Thompson, Copan is off to a 3-1 start to open the Ashley McCause coaching era.
“We started out with a tough first game, but the girls responded very well,” said McCause, noting Copan finished second in its own tournament last weekend.
Donaho, who is a junior, “has stepped up huge on the mound and she has three wins under her belt.
Zoey Secondine has played catcher and Thompson “has been a little spark plug,” McCause said.
The trio also have been ripping the ball hard with extra-base hits, she added.
McCause also praised the defensive contributions of versatile gloves Rylee Preston and Amaya Barnes,
Copan will spend the week on the road — Tuesday at Bluejacket, Thursday at Barnsdall and Friday at South Coffeyville.
