DEWEY

The Lady Bulldoggers are undefeated in district play with a big 4-1 win over Adair last Wednesday at home. Dewey won their first meeting earlier in the month 7-2. 

Londyn Bond’s solo homer in the fourth inning was the first score. The game was tied at one each until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Lady Bulldoggers plated three runs. 

Dewey’s only hiccup last week was in the Skiatook Festival on Saturday where they lost 3-0 to Class 6A Sand Springs.

Last Thursday, Dewey took down Class 6A Broken Arrow 5-1 on the road. Lady Bulldogger Kayla Overton homered in the first inning to score two runs. She’d also get the win in the circle, striking out five, walking three, giving up four hits and one run. Bond had two hits with one RBI. Keirstyn Anderson had one hit with two RBI. Aubree Bellar and Landry Herren each had a hit. 

Dewey swept Salina last Monday and Tuesday in district battles, scoring 38 runs to Salina’s single run. Bond drove in six runs on three hits on Monday. She homered in the first inning to score two runs. 

Dewey added five more runs in the bottom of the second inning and eight more in the third and fourth innings to end the game early. Overton, who earned the win, homered, scoring three runs. Mackenzie Hedges, Jaelynn Smith, Chanley Herren and Landry Herren each had a hit. Bond led the way with seven hits.

Lady Bulldogger bats continued to pound away on Tuesday with 15 hits in their second meeting with Salina. Dewey scored five runs in the top of the first inning with Salina answering with its only run. Seventeen Lady Bulldoggers would see action in the 23-1 romp. Kadynce Lavasseur went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Anderson led with four RBI, followed by Bellar with three. Abigail Atkinson, Caydence Bishop and Sophia Mayer all had a RBI. 

Dewey defeated Sperry 9-5 at the Skiatook Festival on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldoggers, under the leadership of Riley Allen, are 19-6 as the softball regular season winds down towards the end of September.

CANEY VALLEY

The  Lady Trojans (14-7) went 2-for-3 last week. They lost 15-0 to district Class 2A powerhouse Oktaha (22-2) last Tuesday.

Caney Valley’s two wins came in the Woodland Tournament, defeating Woodland 10-1 and Shidler 8-3 last Saturday.

The Lady Trojans took the lead in the bottom of the second inning against Woodland after Brooklyn McCabe’s single, scoring a run. Mia Malone singled for two RBI. Anderly Edwards doubled, scoring a run. She then stole home for a total of five Lady Trojan runs. Caney Valley would score five more runs in the third and fourth innings. Anderly Edwards went the distance, striking out five with no walks. 

Also on Saturday, Caney Valley led Shidler 7-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Tigers plated a run. They’d score two more in the final two innings with Caney Valley coming out on top 8-3. Edwards again went the distance with five strikeouts and no walks, giving up three hits. 

Riley Brooks, Kaylynn Edwards and Anderly Edwards all had doubles. 

The Lady Trojans fell to Pawnee 12-4 in their final game at the Woodland Tournament.

OKLAHOMA UNION

The Lady Cougars, led by Ashlyn Kile, are 6-11 on the season. They fell to Chelsea 9-0 last Monday and defeated Nowata 21-11 last Thursday. Oklahoma Union hosts its own tournament starting Friday. The field includes Broken Arrow jayvee, Nowata, Kellyville, Caney Valley, Chelsea, Tahlequah jayvee, Blue Jacket and Catoosa.

NOWATA

The Lady Ironmen are 2-14 on the season with a 10-1 loss to Chelsea last Tuesday. They fell to Nowata  County rival Oklahoma Union 21-11 last Thursday.
