BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Choo-Choo—WOW!

That’s the sound of the Bartlesville High School softball express steaming along to a six-game winning streak.

The Lady Bruins have surpassed the 20-win milestone and are sitting at 22-10 following a 7-1 victory Wednesday against visiting Yukon.

More than that is at stake. Bartlesville is on the verge of wrapping up the No. 2 seed in District 6A-2 and clinching home field advantage for the Class 6A regionals.

Following are details from several recent Lady Bruin games, most of them in an out-of-state tournament in Branson, Mo.

BARTLESVILLE 7, JOPLIN (Mo.) 5: Talk about your high-powered bat!

Erin Bridendolph blasted a triple and a homer and drove in three runs as the one-hole batter for Bartlesville.

Maddie Czaja and Savannah Alden each drove in one run for the Lady Bruins. Czaja and Josie Childers each contributed a double.

Allison Rosson pitched the complete four-hit victory with Madie Nachbor catching. They combined for two walks and six K’s.

BARTLESVILLE 9, MORRISVILLE (Mo.) 0:  Jazmyne Campbell rang up four strikeouts while pitching the three-hit shutout.

Alden ripped a solo homer to help fuel the offensive eruption. Childers added a double and three RBI.

Childers lashed a double and a single and plated three RBI. Other major Lady Bruin plate contributors included Bridendolph with a triple and RBI, Lola Redington with a double and RBI, Kenzie Denny with a base hit and RBI and Czaja, Redington and Childers with two hits each.

Czaja also stole two bases.

BARTLESVILLE 3, WILLARD (Mo.) 2: In a thriller decided in the seventh inning, the Lady Bruins depended on pitcher Kelsie Yales and catcher Nachbor to seal the win. They surrendered a walk and K’d six.

The Lady Bruin offense experienced a rare no-extra base hit output. Lydia Daniels led the way with two singles out of the nine-hole spot.

Alden drove in two runs and Campbell plated one.

Courtesy runner Delaney Brown scored one of the runs. Czaja contributed a sacrifice hit.

The game was scoreless through five innings and 1-1 after six. Willard squeezed ahead, 2-1, in the top of the seventh. Bartlesville scored twice in the bottom of the seventh.

BARTLESVILLE 2, PRESTON 1: In their first game back from Missouri, the Lady Bruins turned to Yales for a complete-game five-hitter. She walked one and struck out eight.

Daniels unloaded at the plate with two doubles and a RBI, which drove home Paisley Bryant.

BARTLESVILLE 7, YUKON 1: Childers brought two runs home to lead a diverse Lady Bruin attack that saw three other players record a RBI — Alden, Redington and Nachbor.

Bridendolph contributed a double and a single and scored two runs. Campbell also crossed home plate twice.

Czaja added two singles and contributed a sacrifice hit along with Nachbor.

Rosson collected the pitching win while walking two and striking out seven. C. Conner homered for Yukon’s lone run.
