BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Dewey and Oklahoma Union high school cross country runners burst to sizzling success at the recent Cleora meet.

Following is a breakdown of how each team fared.

OKLAHOMA UNION VARSITY GIRLS (2 mile)

The Lady Cougars clawed out the girls’ team title with a red-hot score of 27 points.

Five Lady Cougars finished in the top nine: Lauryn Jackson (2nd, 12:48.07), Makenna Goemmer (3rd, 13:15.59), Raiden Kuehn (6th, 13:54.71), Taylor Dixon (7th, 14:10.91) and Sawyer Jackson (9th, 14:20.85).

Rounding out the Oklahoma Union squad was Cooper Robbins (36th, 17:06.82),

DEWEY VARSITY BOYS (5K)

Dewey boasted four finishers in the top 20 — Austin Eastman (6th, 20:10.32), Ryan Frisinger (7th, 20:10.32), Kooper Crawford (13th, 20:36.31) and Scott Horton (16th, 21:16.93).

The next three Doggers to cross the finish line were Carter Sears (22nd, 21:47.1), Tra Hicks (26th, 22:13.19) and Zach Renfroe (30th, 22:36.11).

Rounding out the Dogger crew were Tyler Roach (23:15.64), Weston Virden (24:10.35), Gage Hawkins (24:27.21), Sawyer Willard (25:46.01), Jared Purkey (26:18.02), Fletcher McKinney (26:38.85), Payton Godfrey (27:09.78), Owen Dingman (27:11.55), Ezekiel Fugate (31:52.95), Mason Snellgrove (33:49.92), Ethan Unkenholz (33:50.61), Anthony Smith (34:40.97) and Logan Flanagan (38:56.63).

DEWEY VARSITY GIRLS (2 miles)

Adrianna Hicks rolled to eighth place (14:13.16), followed by Izzy Perry (19th, 15:21.43).

The next three Dewey finishers included Abrielle Trease (29th, 16:16.15), Tymberlynn Evans (32nd, 16:39.15), and Eden McKinney (59th, 18:40.46).

The final Dewey placers included Sayde Guilfoyle (60h, 18:40.89), Arien Trease (64th, 19:14.29) and Aurora Smith (68th, 20:47.07).

OKLAHOMA UNION BOYS (5K)

It was Bottoms at the top for the Cougars.

James Bottoms hustled to 12th place (20:32.23) to spearhead the team’s charge, followed by Koen Lowery (14th, 20:54.91), Jestin Martinez (20th, 21:40.87), Jimmy Williams (28th, 22:22.53), and Tegan Weber (40th, 24:39.34).

Rounding out the team were Eli Wattenberger (25:03.56), Holden Rouse (25:06.45) and Ty Almy (26:43.98).

DEWEY JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

Sadie Gomez surged to the overall championship (9:44.31) to set a fast pace for Dewey.

Rounding out the Lady Dogger squad were Hailey Alamanza (13th, 11:08.63), Paislee Mehagan (40th, 13:03.34), Fallon Washington (15:33.37), Paisley Benefiel (16:08.2), Perri McCauley (17:18.17) and Laynee Prentice (17:27.72).

OKLAHOMA UNION JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Oklahoma Union blazed to the team championship, led by first-place finisher Kutter Wesson (9:16.32).

The next six Cougar finishers were Jasper Hawes (10th, 10:09.84), Carson Morris (14th, 10:12.65), Daren Keath (15th, 10:14.9), Tucker Forth (20th, 10:22.52), Hudson Smith (21st, 10:24.76) and Drake Dixon (33rd, 11:01.16).

Rounding out the squad were Silas Pyle (11:21.93), Leland Lafaflier (11:45.73), Dalton Smith (11:46.55), Carson Collier (12:28.34) and Braden Morris (13:34.86).

OKLAHOMA UNION JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

Oklahoma Union placed four in the top 30 — Payton Callahan (3rd, 10:13.07), Alianna Johnson (15th, 11:16.44), Sawyer Lemos (18th, 11:30.51) and Kamry Roeder (30th, 12:25.35).

The next Lady Cougars to cross the finish line were Charlie Shipley (37th, 12:54.33) and Gaby Smith (15:46.1).

DEWEY JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Christian Catlin recorded 22nd (10:31.34) to lead the Dewey team.

The next four Doggers who followed him were Dominick Eutsler (34th, 11:04.28), Nolan Snellgrove (47th, 11:39.88), Paxton Williams (61st, 12:08.89) and Ryker Griggs (66th, 12:35.47).

The remainder of the team’s finishers included Kaysen Callahan (13:00.07), Brody Perry (14:12.07), Noah Wilson (14:56.78), Maddux Bellar (15:05.3), Connor Kuhns (15:38.11), Carston Groomes (16:03.78) and Aaron Drowatzky (16:17.74).
