No lights will shine on Silverlake Road on Friday nights, as Wesleyan Christian School will once again be unable to field a football team.
WCS canceled its eight-man season due to a lack of players to form a squad.
However, hopes remain high for the future, as the school’s junior high team features 14 to 15 players, according to WCS athletic director Steven Cooks.
“Hopefully all of them will stick with it into high school and this drought will end soon,” Cooks said.
This is the second consecutive year WCS has been unable to field a high school team. However, parents and students rallied around the middle school team last year.
The Mustangs’ middle school season begins Sept. 1 at home against Welch. Below is the full schedule.
