Bartlesville gymnasts power to glory

Lorrie Bertolet is departing the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club with another state championship under her belt!
The BGC’s Xcel Gold team rose to the top of the heap in the recent 2025 Compulsory Xcel State Meet.
Each of the club’s Gold squad members qualified for the regionals to be held next month in Hot Springs, Ark.
“These girls had a great season and they are not finished yet,” Bertolet said. “Rachel Coyle has done a phenomenal job with these athletes.”
Bartlesville swept the top nine Xcel All-Around scores and edged Ultimate for the Xcel Gold crown. The BGC finished fourth in the Xcel Silver group.
Overall All-Around champion Alla Calhoun of the BGC piled up more than 39 points while winning the vault, balance beam and floor exercise events. Bartlesville’s Brielle Vernon emerged in first place in uneven bars.
Bertolet recently announced she is stepping down as the BGC’s Executive Director/Head Coach, following more than 40 years after she first joined the program as a coach.
In addition to the BGC winning the state Gold Xcel title, the Xcel Silver crew finished its season at state.
Following are all-around results for each Bartlesville girls plus their top-three finishes in individual events.
Bartlesville results — Xcel competition
1st PLACE All-Around (39.025) — Alla Calhoun: Vault (1st, 9.75), Bars (2nd, 9.8), Beam (1st, 9.85), Floor (1st, 9.625).
2nd PLACE All-Round (38.7) — Rylee Laxson: Vault (2nd, 9.7), Beam (3rd, 9.725), Floor (2nd, 9.6).
3rd PLACE All-Around (38.65) — Sophia Johnson: Bars (3rd, 9.8), Beam (2nd, 9.825).
4th PLACE All-Around (38.05) — Haylee Clark: Vault (3rd, 9.525).
5th PLACE All-Around (38.025) — Brinley Everett.
6th PLACE All-Around (37.925) — Aurora Brown.

AAU CLAREMORE MEET
The BGC delivered a mighty impact at the recent 2025 Spring Fling held in Claremore.
“Coaches Sierra Stouffer, Hailey Taylor and Sara Colaw have done a wonderful job in training these future stars of Bartlesville Gymnastics,” said Bertolet.

Landers completed the golden sweep by winning all four events in her division — the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
Dunlap nearly duplicated that shining feat. She grabbed first place on the vault, bars and floor and came in second on the beam.
Shedd also checked in with an exceptional effort by winning vault and bars and earning the runner-up honor on the beam and floor.
