BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT
A Bartlesville athlete continued her amazing gymnastics season by earning a trip to Salt Lake City.
Raynie Ketcher of the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club outperformed rivals from seven states — Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado — at the recent USA Gymnastics Regional Championships in Denver, Colo.
In fact, Ketcher made club history by winning the All-Around regional title at Level 10.
Next up, Ketcher packs her bags for the Beehive State in order to participate in the USA Gymnastics Level 10 national championship meet.
Competing in the Level 10 Junior B division, Ketcher tied for first on the vault (9.525), won the balance beam (9.525) and captured the floor exercise (9.475). She won All-Around with 37.825 points.
Ketcher won’t be the lone BGC standout to compete out of state
Lisa Smith qualified to compete on the Level 10 balance beam — with a score of 9.65 — in Salt Lake City.
Smith tied for first for the regional beam crown (9.65).
Teammate Lyndsey Lief punched her ticket to Big Dance in Fargo, N.D., at the Level 9 Westerns.
Lief — competing at Level 10 Senior A, notched sixth on the floor (9.325), seventh on the bars (9.0) and seventh All-Around (35.95).
Fellow club standout Kinlee Littleford — Level 10 Junior B — barely missed out a fourth national qualifier. She recorded her strongest finish on the beam (9.025).
“We could not be more proud of her efforts,” said BGC Executive Director/Head Coach Lorrie Bertolet.
