BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

It’s been an historic May for the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club.

Following are reports from different competitions.

LEVEL 9 WESTERN REGIONALS

Lyndsie Lief defied gravity to display her center of greatness during this brutally competitive competition held in Fargo, N.D.

“The event featured the top Level 9 athletes from 25 states,” explained BGC Executive Director/Head Coach Lorrie Bertolet. “Bartlesville athlete Lyndsie Lief qualified by being in the top 7 at the Region 3 Regionals.”

Not only did Lief show up in Fargo — her performance was far out, to coin a 1970s phrase.

She placed seventh in the nation on the balance beam, while recording her highest All-Around score of the season.

“We could not be more excited,” said Bertolet. “To medal at Westerns is extremely hard to do because you are competing against the best of the best from 25 states.”

Lief likely will make the step forward next season to Level 10.

“Lyndsie is strong and elegant and I can’t wait to see her achieve next year’s goals,” said Bertolet.
