Special to BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Raynie Ketcher added a new chapter to her gymnastics career by capturing second place in the all-around competition at the Level 10 Developmental National Championships in Oklahoma City last week.

The competition featured the top athletes in the nation at Level 10, the highest level in the USA Gymnastics Development Program. Ketcher’s performance marked the highest individual national finish in her club's history.

Ketcher placed in the top 20 across all four events:

  • Vault: 9.725 (Fifth place) – Ketcher was one of the few athletes to successfully land a Yurchenko 1 1/2, one of the most difficult vaults in the competition.

  • Floor Exercise: 9.650 (Second place)

  • Balance Beam: 9.450 (17th place)

  • Uneven Bars: 9.575 (15th place)

  • All-Around: 38.400 (Second place)

Her second-place all-around finish earned her an automatic spot on the Women's Development Program National Team (formerly known as the Junior Olympic National Team). She also led the Region 3 squad to a team gold medal.

Ketcher is coached by her mother, Rachel Coyle. Her training began in “mommy and me classes” at the club when she was eight months old.

The Bartlesville Gymnastics Club dates back to 1966, when the Phillips 66 Petroleum Company sponsored the AAU National Gymnastics Championships in Bartlesville. The event was broadcast nationally on ABC’s "Wide World of Sports."

The equipment and infrastructure left behind from that event established the Phillips 66 Gymnastics Club. Operating over decades as ConocoPhillips Gymnastics and now the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club, the program hosts the longest-running age-group invitational tournament in the country. The club's historic training ground has produced Olympic gymnasts including Kelly Garrison (1988), Shannon Miller (1992, 1996), and Nastia Liukin (2008).
