BARTLESVILLE BRAVES RETURN TO ACTION WITH SUMMER ROSTER ANNOUNCED; INDIANS PLAY ON ROAD SATURDAY

We’re just a day away from the unofficial start of summer as the Doenges Toyota Indians open their season on the road against the Kansas Curve in Clearwater, Kan., during a doubleheader Saturday.
In the meantime, the younger Bartlesville Braves roster, which includes several players from the Bartlesville Bruins, has been announced after approximately 80 athletes tried out earlier this month for spots on both teams.
It has been three years since Bartlesville fielded a Braves team. For many years, the team was named the United Linen Braves, but it will return this season as the Doenges Toyota Braves.
“It’s a huge step towards what we’re looking to achieve by bringing baseball back to Bartlesville and athletes staying here to play,” new manager and head coach Tony Osborne said.
The Braves are registered under American Legion, but will also play teams from other organizations.
“We’ll get them in college showcase-style settings,” Osborne said. “That is a major focus for us — to get them on the radar as soon as possible. The guys we have want to compete at the next level.”
While schedules are still being finalized, fans can expect more home games this season. Osborne added that a Warriors team might join the organization next year.
“We want our presence known that we are here and here to stay,” Osborne said.
