PAWHUSKA HOST TRACK MEET: PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE BARNSDALL, CANEY VALLEY, NOWATA, AND WCS

Pawhuska hosted a track meet last Thursday, featuring several area schools. Pawhuska’s Tripp Walker won the high jump at 6-feet-4 inches. Other teams competing were Caney Valley, Wesleyan Christian, Barnsdall, and Nowata.

BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Several area high school track warriors waged a feisty battle against each other last Thursday on the plains of Pawhuska High School.

Pawhuska, Caney Valley, Wesleyan Christian, Barnsdall and Nowata helped round out a large field of schools from throughout the wider area.

Following are highlights for the five Bartlesville-area schools:

CHAMPIONSHIPS

Athletes from four different area schools burst to first.

For Pawhuska, Tripp Walker dominated the boys high jump by soaring 6-feet-4-inches — six inches higher than the runner-up.

Caney Valley’s McKenzie McCabe also defied gravity by capturing the title in the girls pole vault at 8-0.

Kaden Week of Wesleyan Christian bolted to the top spot in the boys 200m dash in :23.46.

And Nowata’s Tristan McBride plunged to number one in the boys 110m high hurdles in :18.74.

SECOND PLACES

Pawhuska boasted three athletes as runner-ups — Emillie Curry (girls discus, 100-03), Jacob Sweeden (boys shot put, 38-5.5) and Kayden Cheves (girls 800m, 2:39.23).

Two Caney Valley battlers finished second — Cash Williams (boys discus, 120-11) and Anderly Edwards (girls pole vault, 8-0).

THIRD PLACES

Barnsdall’s Abri Gott powered to third place in the girls shot put (32-4.5).

Pawhuska was represented three times in this category — the girls 4x200m relay team, the girls 4x100m relay team and Jacob Sweeden (boys discus, 112-2).

Trever Morgan of Caney Valley turned in a bronze-level mark in the boys pole vault (9-0).
