Super-duper Cooper.
That phrase might well sum up the theme of Bartlesville High School’s win against Coweta, 6-1, in varsity baseball action last Friday.
Pitcher Cooper Swaim snapped off a one-hitter — on 105 pitches and no earned runs — to help elevate the Bruins to their 10th victory. Along the way he walked six and whiffed six while Braden Neill handled catching chores.
The Bruins (10-10) — who are coached by Cody Price — never trailed.
They led 3-1 after three innings and added three runs in the fourth.
Sam Marcella doubled, singled and drove in a pair of tallies. Bryce Luelf, Gavin Thomas, Carson Silva and Luke Massey added a RBI each. Silva drove home his run on a sacrifice fly.
Luelf and Massey both reached as hit batsmen and Thomas stole a base. Kanin Romesburg walked twice and scored one run.
The Bruins eye a busy week with a roadtrip Monday to Deer Creek, a home game (6 p.m.) Tuesday against Deer Creek, and traveling Thursday and Friday to the Pryor Festival.
Remaining regular season home games include: Muskogee (April 13), Tulsa NOAH (April 17), Bixby (April 20), Coweta (April 24), Putnam City North (April 28) and Tulsa Washington (May 1).
Bartlesville’s district record sits at 2-4.
