BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT
It’s not that the Bartlesville High School Bruins performed poorly during a couple of L’s earlier this week against Enid.
They just didn’t do enough good things to flip the final results.
On Tuesday, Enid held on to a 6-3 win on its homefield. Twenty-four hours before, Enid rode a prolific start to a 9-5 victory in Bartlesville.
Actually, in both games Bartlesville faced a sizable deficit early and battled back. The Bruin defense committed only one error in each contest.
Next up, the Bruins (8-10) — who are coached by Cody Price — eye three road games before returning home next Tuesday to host Deer Creek.

Following two innings the Bruins trailed 6-0. But they outscored their visitor, 5-3, the rest of the way — just a little too little.
Barrett Merciez and Luke Massey each drove in two runs to lead the Bruin offensive attack. Gavin Thomas added the other RBI and Carson Silva contributed two hits.
Braden Neill, Bryce Luelf and Kanin Romesburg drew three walks apiece to provide Bartlesville some ducks on the pond in their effort to turn the game around.
Sam Hill started on the bump for Bartlesville. Danny Mba Thornton threw the final five innings, scattering seven hits, allowing two runs and striking out three.

Enid leapt to a 5-1 lead through three innings and again held off a spirited Bruin rally.
The Bruins hit the ball well as a team (10-of-30) but just couldn’t convert that production into enough runs.
Sam Hill ripped two hits and drove in all three runs. Sam Marcella added two hits.
Cy Rigdon, Thomas and Romesburg each stole a base and Merciez reached base as a hit batsman.
Hudson Baker and Marcella split pitching duties. Marcella hurled two scoreless innings in relief and struck out one batter.
