BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

The Bartlesville Bruins won their ninth game of the season Friday, knocking off Stillwater 52-49 on senior night in a packed home gym. First-year coach Jake Christenson said it was the "best team basketball" the Bruins played all year.

"They had each other's backs, and we paid attention to details for four quarters," Christenson said. "We were physical."

Senior Kam Chambers, who has seen limited action, started the game and knocked down a three-pointer off a Dennis Duncan assist at 6:54 in the first quarter for the first points of the game.

"What about Kam and his shot and him sticking this thing out," Christenson said. "It says so much about who these young men are to stick it out through these tough seasons."

Under Christenson’s leadership, the Bruins (9-14) improved from a 1-18 record last season.

"I think it's amazing to see their hard work pay off on such a special senior night," Christenson said.

Stillwater began to chip away at the Bruins' 38-29 lead going into the fourth quarter, when Bartlesville had a few turnovers and missed free throws. Duncan, who had just missed two free throws, drilled two crucial shots from the charity stripe after being fouled with 32 seconds left in the game, putting the Bruins ahead 52-49.

Stillwater came out of a timeout with 27 seconds left and missed a three-pointer that bounced off the rim to end the game.

Hunter Holmes led in Bruin scoring with 15 points. Other scorers were Sutton Huff (9), Luke Massey (7), Duncan (7), Trae Collins (6), Hudson Eads (5) and Chambers (3).

Seniors honored between games included Skyler Carter, Titus Huck, Chambers, Collins, Duncan and Eads.

Next up, Bartlesville travels to Rejoice Christian Tuesday to end the regular season.
