The Copan Hornets (9-10) and Lady Hornets (5-13) seasons ended Thursday, with losses in Class B1 Districts at Medford. The Lady Hornets fell to Glencoe 50-32. Jacklynn Thompson led Copan scoring with 15 points, followed by senior Zoey Secondine with five.

“Jacklynn led us again,” said head coach Kirsten Ergenbright. “She’s developed a lot this season. Our senior Zoey fought hard, and she never gives up. She has no quit.”

The Lady Hornets had a slow start with only two points in the first quarter. Glencoe led at halftime 25-11.

“We didn’t get enough shots up in the first half to truly compete,” said Ergenbright. However, Copan did step up in the second half, scoring 21 points, but couldn’t gain any ground. Copan’s R. Walker had three points, while Harley Shull, Libby Tarter, Talyn Branch, and Aimee Nitter had two each. Akela Summers added a free throw.

The Copan Hornets fell to Medford 63-44. Senior Shooter Brewington has been battling an injury for a few weeks and wasn’t able to put in his normal 100 percent effort, said head coach Kolton Stacy.

“That really dampened our spirits, but nevertheless, they fought hard,” said Stacy.

Medford led at halftime 38-26. “They were just on fire tonight from the three, and we just couldn’t keep up,” said Stacy. “We’ve won a lot of games over the last four years, and these seniors have laid a great foundation for the junior high group coming in.”
