Caney Valley's Lady Trojans improved to 7-3 with a 12-2, four-inning win over Nowata on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans plated nine runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth.
Shortstop Riley Brooks led the way with two hits, two RBIs, and one run scored. Anderly Edwards pitched all four innings for the win, allowing two hits and two runs, while scoring three runs with one RBI and two stolen bases. Roxy Hawkins was behind the plate and scored two runs with a hit, RBI, and a stolen base.
Lyrique Walker took the loss for Nowata. Nowata fell to 2-8.
This was the second meeting between the teams, with Caney Valley winning 6-4 on Aug. 14.
In other action, Dewey's Lady Doggers (9-3) swept Commerce, winning 9-4 on Monday and 13-3 on Tuesday.
On Monday, Dewey scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings and five more in the seventh to secure the 9-4 win. Chanley Herren went 3-for-4 with one RBI, while Londyn Bond had two hits and scored one run. Keirstyn Anderson and Macie Dugger each drove in two runs. Kayla Overton picked up the win.
On Tuesday, Bond hit two homers, including a grand slam in the second inning, and had five RBIs. Landry Herren tripled, scored two runs, and had three RBIs. Overton picked up her second win, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six. The Lady Doggers host the Dewey Festival on Thursday and Friday; check with your team for possible rain-delayed schedule changes.
