The Caney Valley Lady Trojans continue to dominate, winning 3 of 4 games last week. Head coach Andy Fox said good pitching, defense and timely hitting have helped the Lady Trojans compete at a higher level.
Following are summaries of last week’s action.
CANEY VALLEY 10, Mounds 0: The Lady Trojans (11-4) shut out Mounds 10-0 in a district matchup last Wednesday. Sophomore Anderly Edwards allowed four hits and no runs over six innings, striking out seven batters with no walks. Caney Valley struck early in the second inning and third innings, scoring three runs. They plated seven more runs in the final two innings. Catcher Roxy Hawkins had two stolen bases. Also stealing bases were Brooklyn McCabe, Riley Brooks, Kaylynn Edwards and Kiara Sanders. Kaylynn Edwards had three RBI. This was the second meeting for the two teams with Caney Valley taking the first win 8-2 in August.
CANEY VALLEY 15, Oklahoma Union 0: The Lady Trojans run ruled visiting Oklahoma Union 15-0 last Thursday, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and five in the second inning. Pitcher Anderly Edwards tripled in the second to drive in three runs. She picked up the win, with Mackenzie McCabe taking over the in the second inning for the shutout, striking out five batters. Avinley Biggs picked up the loss for Oklahoma Union.
CANEY VALLEY 6, Claremore Sequoyah 3: Brooks doubled and Kaylynn Edwards singled to center field to start the Lady Trojans to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Caney Valley would add three more runs in the second inning and one in the fourth inning for the 6-3 win on Saturday. Brooks and Kaylynn Edwards both had two hits. Brooks also had three RBI. Mackenzie McCabe picked up the win.
CANEY VALLEY 4, Chelsea 3: In another Saturday game, the Lady Trojans struck first with two runs, but Chelsea would answer with their only three runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Brooks, Anderly Edwards and Kaylynn Edwards all had two hits in the Lady Trojans 4-3 victory. Anderly Edwards pitched all seven innings for the win.

Since hosting their own tournament, the Lady Bulldoggers (14-4) are on a 3-1 run.
DEWEY 7, Adair 2: In this district matchup last Thursday, pitcher Kayla Overton showed her power at the plate, hitting a home run in the fourth inning, scoring three runs. She also doubled, scoring one for a total of four RBI. Overton got the win in the circle, giving up six hits, striking out two and walking two. Chanley Herren, Londyn Bond and Mackenzie Hedges had two hits each. Hedges added an RBI, along with Aubree Bellar.
DEWEY 6, Perkins-Tyron 1: During the Oologah tournament last Friday, the Lady Bulldoggers scored six runs in the first three innings. Perkins-Tyron’s lone run came in the second inning. Overton got the win, giving up two hits, one run and striking out three. Keirstyn Anderson had two hits and three RBI.
DEWEY 4, Collinsville 2: The Lady Doggers struck early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning last Friday, but Collinsville answered with two in the second inning. Overton hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. Herren had two hits including a double.
Elk City 2, DEWEY 0: Strong pitching from both teams kept this a low scoring game. Elk City scored their two runs in the first and fifth innings. Dewey’s bats never really got going, with a team total of two hits from Jaeylynn Smith and Bellar.
Next up, the Lady Bulldoggers travel to Salina for a district match up on Tuesday.

NOWATA
South Coffevyille 8, NOWATA 4: The young Class 2A Lady Ironmen continue to struggle with a 2-12 record. Nowata’s two wins were against Yale and Oklahoma Union in August.
Last Thursday, they lost to Nowata County rival South Coffeyville 8-4. Nowata grabbed the lead in the top of the third inning, 3-2, but South Coffeyville would answer with three runs in the bottom of the third, two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth. Lady Ironmen Lyrique Walker was hot a the plate with a double, triple and two stolen bases. Hailey Gillman stole three bases and Addyson Freeman and Paisley Reinken each had stolen bases. Walker picked up the loss striking out six and walking five. Lillyan Tinsley got the win for the Lady Lions, giving up three hits and four runs (three earned), striking out 13 and walking five. Next up, Nowata hosts Chelsea on Tuesday.
