The Bartlesville Lady Bruins are off to a 3-1 start after defeating Preston 13-1 on the road Thursday. Their only loss in the young fast-pitch season came at the hands of Pryor in a 9-3 decision on Tuesday, following a 5-0 shutout victory over Collinsville earlier that day.
It took the Lady Bruins only three innings to finish off Preston due to the run rule.
Bartlesville set the tone early by scoring three runs in the opening frame. Catcher Maddie Nachbor started the rally with a single to right field before Londyn Bond hit a line drive to right, moving pinch runner Alayna Nightingale to second base. Erin Bridendolph then singled on a hard grounder to center field to load the bases. Lola Redington followed with a RBI groundout to third base, plating Nightingale to put the Lady Bruins up 1-0. Josie Childers drove in Bond to make it 2-0, and Bridendolph capped the frame by stealing home.
Preston scored its lone run in the bottom of the first inning.
Bartlesville’s bats stayed hot as the team tacked on 10 more runs over the next two frames to secure the three-inning victory.
Bridendolph led the charge at the plate, blasting two home runs, including a third-inning grand slam. She also paired up with Redington for back-to-back home runs in the top of the second inning
Several Lady Bruins put up big numbers to fuel the explosive offensive performance. Bridendolph turned in a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and six RBIs. Bond also reached base in every appearance, finishing 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Redington went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Childers collected a hit and drove in a run. Izzy Leib also contributed to the offensive onslaught by driving in a run.
Alison Rosson picked up the win for the Lady Bruins, allowing two hits and one run and striking out three batters.
Next up, Bartlesville hosts Putnam City West on Monday and Bixby on Tuesday.
