BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Area high school cross country runners have been raising plenty of dust with their explosive footsteps in recent competitions.

Following are closer looks.

BARTLESVILLE VARSITY GIRLS

COWBOY JAMBOREE (5K) — Isabella Prentice pranced to 168th place in the super-duper-competitive Cowboy Jamboree Large School Girls run to lead the Bartlesville horde.

Nearly 390 competitors finished the crowded race on Friday (September 26) in Stillwater.

Eliza Miller (170th, 22:43.4) crossed the line less than two seconds after Prentice.

The next five runners of the Lady Bruin contingent that completed the race included Emma Kuntz (253rd, 24:14.1), Katherine Manley (254th, 24:14.6), Afton Miller (256th, 24:16.7), Madilyn Malcom (284th, 25:01.5) and Hailey Taylor (25:01.9).

Rounding out the team’s finishers were Alysse Dennis (25:13.0), Rebekah Stephens (26:15.6), Ciara Swisher (26:22.6), Kara Stose (26:40.0), Sahara Stamps (27:25.2) and Naomi Vivian (29:59.7).

HOLLAND HALL (5K) — The Lady Bruins powered to second place — just 10 points out of first — during the Holland Hall meet in late September.

A pack mentality — the first six runners finishing in the Top 20 — energized Bartlesville.

Prentice led the way (12th, 21:59.3), followed by Eliza Miller (15th, 22:30.74) and Malcom (20th, 22:49.49).

The next four fastest Lady Bruins were Karli Serratos (23rd, 22:57.99), Afton Miller (29th, 23:36.78), Manley (30th, 23:50.35) and Swisher (47th, 25:20.99).

Rounding out the top 12 Lady Bruin finishers were Kuntz (25:36.12), Stamps (25:49.84), Stephens (26:07.58), Evelynn Pratt (26:21.76) and Stose (27:11.68).

BARTLESVILLE VARSITY BOYS

COWBOY JAMBOREE (5K) — Competing in a field of 470 runners in a wall-to-wall squeeze-fest Friday (September 26) in Stillwater, Bartlesville boasted 15 finishers.

Preston Shoesmith led the way with an outstanding time of 17:33.1 to place 101st.

The next nine Bruins to cross the finish line were Jackson Boudreaux (224th, 18:35.9), Talmage King (266th, 18:54.7), Calen Bolitho (304th, 19:17.2), Luke Bulleigh (315th, 19:25.0), Jim Dudley (317th, 19:25.6), Armando Ponce (321st, 19:27.9), Ben Lauritsen (19:44.9), Caleb Taylor (19:57.8) and Peter King (20:08.4)

The remainder of the squad featured Oliver Humble (20:29.9), Michael Taylor (20:30.8), Anderson Malcom (21:15.9), Gage O’Brien (21:28.8), and Kayden Swisher (21:59.9).

HOLLAND HALL (5K) — Paced by a Top 10 finish by Shoesmith (7th, 17:30.66), Bartlesville landed in fifth place out of 20 teams.

Also finishing in the Top 30 were Talmage King (25th, 18:28.58) and Boudreaux (30th, 18:40.35).

Rounding out the team’s next fastest results were Bolitho (47th, 19:24.42), Bulleigh (54th, 19:32.99), Ponce (58th, 19:38.9) and Michael Taylor (144th, 37:55.26).

DEWEY VARSITY BOYS

OKLAHOMA UNION (5K) — Austin Eastman galloped to second place overall (18:38.83) to lead the Doggers’ charge.

Scott Horton followed in fifth place (18:54.49).

The next five Dewey finishers included Kooper Crawford (12th, 19:38.79), Gage Hawkins (18th, 20:07.39), Tra Hicks (19th, 20:07.66), Zach Renfroe (20th, 20:-07.68), and Weston Virden (21:11.96).

Rounding out the squad were Payton Godrey (21:44.3), Tyler Roach (23:09.31), Jared Purkey (23:10.83), Sawyer Willard (24:02.17), Ethan Unkenholz (24:03.44), Fletcher McKinney (24:24.55), Tim Bright (25:14.96), Owen Dingman (27:44.82), Anthony Smith (28:08.4), and Logan Flanagan (30:32.31).

DEWEY VARSITY GIRLS

OKLAHOMA UNION (2 miles) — Adrianna Hicks cruised to eighth place (12:58.99), followed by Tymberlynn Evans (11th, 13:41.35), Izzy Perry (13th, 13:58.72), Abrielle Trease (14th, 14:02.7), and Arien Trease (21st, 16:00.89).

Other Dewey finishers included Sayde Guilfoyle (16:50.14), Eden Mckinney (17:15.93), and Aurora Smith (17:25.57).

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN VARSITY BOYS

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (5K) — Jesse Blakemore burst to fourth place (17:52) during last weekend’s test in Rogers County.

Rounding out the WCS Mustang runners were Brody Kaelber (20:32), Keagan Herr (20:37), Rowan Wipf (22:48), Thomas Wisdom (23:39), and Anthony LaTorraca (24:47.0).

CANEY VALLEY VARSITY GIRLS

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (2 miles) — Presley Smith continued her blazing season by finishing 2nd (14:13).

Teammates that came in behind her included Jocelyn Chancellor (16:42), Khloe Crawford (18:01), Abby Daigle (19:05), Jaycee Tant (23:04), and Sydni Brown (23:50).

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (2 miles) — Eleanor Burns landed in seventh place (15:16).

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (5K) — Brodie Harmon stampeded to the finish line in 21:00.

OKLAHOMA UNION (2 miles) — Harley Shull recorded 19th place (15:17.14).

OKLAHOMA UNION (2 miles) — Makenna Goemmer stampeded to the championship (11:36.4) to lead a wave of Lady Cougar finishers in the top seven.

They included Raiden Kuehn (3rd, 12:01.85), Lauryn Jackson (4th, 12:03.36), Taylor Dixon (5th, 12:33.38) and Sawyer Jackson (7th, 12:44.64).

Rounding out Oklahoma Union’s squad was Cooper Robbins (18th, 15:03.92)

OKLAHOMA UNION (5K) — James Bottoms was on top for the Cougars (6th, 18:59.26) in their home meet. Koen Lowery was just behind in seventh place (19:01.26).

Rounding out the Cougar crew were Eli Wattenberger (11th, 19:34.56), Jeston Martinez (14th, 19:50.8), Jimmy Williams (15th, 19:51.74), Holden Rouse (23rd, 20:47.88), Tegan Weber (32nd, 22:08.14) and Ty Almy (40th, 24:54.53).

OKLAHOMA UNION (5K) — Matix Sitsler finished in 30:34.9.

BARTLESVILLE JAYVEE BOYS

HOLLAND HALL (5K) — Bartlesville blitzed to the team championship with four runners in the Top 10 — Caleb Taylor (2nd, 19:27.64), Jim Dudley (3rd, 19:32.4), Ben Lauritsen (6th, 19:44.61) and Payson Winward (9th, 19:52.2).

Oliver Humble came in next (13th, 20:10.28) followed by Gage O’Brien (25th, 20:38.89) and Kayden Swisher (27th, 20:41.32).

Rounding out the top 12 Bruin placers were Anderson Malcom (20:49.37), Pierson Proctor (21:40.8), Paydon Smith (21:48.41), Sam Roper (22:03.6) and Carson Cole (22:09.42).

BARTLESVILLE JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

HOLLAND HALL (2 miles) — Bartlesville out-dueled Bixby Middle School for the championship.

The top seven Lady Bruins all finished in the Top 35 — Madisen Dennis (4th, 12:58.9), Annika Dennis (6th, 13:05.54), Brylee Kipps (14th, 13:25.92), Margaret King (16th, 13:34.28), Jillian Lindblom (17th, 13:40.84), Penny McNall (21st, 13:49.08), and Mikah Hightower (34th, 14:24.43).

Rounding out Bartlesville’s first 15 finishers were Amelya Stubbs (14:44.33), Karshyn Faulkner (15:13.34), Cadace Broch (15:19.21), Karis Riner (15:21.73), Sammy Kane (16:03.91), Amora Holland (16:08.5), Kimberly Krammer (16:09.18), and Cora Miller (16:18.39).

BARTLESVILLE JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

HOLLAND HALL (2 miles) — The Bruins came in ninth out of 19 teams with Everett Ellis leading the way (13th, 11:55.84), followed by Leo Winward (15th, 12:06.43).

The rest of Bartlesville’s top 10 pacers included Jeremy Symes (75th, 13:25.36), Manuel Jimenez (76th, 13:25.56), Carter Shea (128th, 14:53.89), Cody Nelson (15:03.56), Josephy Laudero (15:08.39), Reid Campbell (15:21.33), Gabriel Bilby (16:15.67), and Luis Chihuahua (16:25.97).\

Rounding out the next five were Mason Tate (16:33.48), Ryker Deherrera (16:34.0), Levi Thrasher (16:36.41), Fletcher Eidson (17:32.89) and Spencer Bolitho (17:54.08).

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (1 mile) — The Mustangs swept the top two spots — Garrett Gallery (6:01) and Simon Hay (6:02).

Other Mustang finishers were Levi Smith (6:56), Parker Kaelber (7:22) and Dutch Hopper (7:24).

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS

CLAREMORE-SEQUOYAH (1 mile) — Mia Galvan claimed 12th place (6:49).

Rounding out WCS finishers included Rowan Furnas (7:06) and Klara Herr (7:27).

OKLAHOMA UNION JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Peyton Callahan led the Lady Cougars with 5:34.01, good for second place.

The team’s next two-fastest pacers were Alianna Johnson (8th, 6:01.51) and Kamry Roeder (15th, 6:15.86).

COPAN JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Kennedy Ferguson earned third place (5:34.99), followed by Bayle McDowell (13th, 6:12.32), Kayleya Klaus (22nd, 6:31.16), and Kiane Lockman (28th, 6:42.03).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Sadie Gomez hurried to fourth place (5:38.62) while Paislee Mehagan finished 39th (7:46.89).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Six runners finished in the top 20, including Daren Keath (8th, 5:13.54), Jasper Hawes (5:24.42), Cutter Parrett (5:26.5), Carson Morris (5:27.75), Tripp Nolte (5:28.93), and Carson Collier (5:33.21).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Joseph Watts came in 24th (5:40.12).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Christian Catlin led the crew with a 25th-place finish (5:43.95).

The other highest finishers were Ryker Griggs (5:59.12), Paxton Williams (6:11.38) and Marcus Black (6:25.49).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1mile) — Michael Whealy came in 26th (5:47.46), followed by Carson Whealy (6:46.04) and Amarion Strickland (8:48.79).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — The team’s top three finishers included Hailey Alamanza (2nd, 6:10.05), Fallon Washington (12th, 6:53.86) and Paisley Benefiel (7:08.43).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Coming in the top 12 were Kaysen Callahan (8th, 6:05.13), Dominick Eutsler (11th, 6:07.32), and Nolan Snellgrove (12th, 6:08.15).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) —  Finishing in the Top 17 were Zoey Baker (4th, 6:20.1), Isabella Barnett (7th, 6:34.99), and Kali Willig (17th, 7:18.85).

OKLAHOMA UNION (1 mile) — Hudson Smith surged to fifth place (5:49.52), followed by Leland Lefailer (7th, 5:59.97) and Bryer Rexwinkle (16th, 6:18.82).
