The 67th annual Glen Winget Memorial Tournament begins Thursday at Rigdon Field in Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium, featuring a 10-team field competing for the title.
The host Doenges Toyota Indians look to defend their crown after winning the tournament last year. The 2025 victory marked the Indians' first Winget title since 2018, their fourth in the past 25 years and their 19th overall since the tournament's inception.
Joseph Glenn Winget founded the event in 1959, two years before he died from complications of acute leukemia at age 42. Known locally as "The Winget," the baseball tournament has been held every July 4 weekend since 1959, with the exception of 1963.
While the tournament format has varied over the decades among double elimination, round-robin and pool play, the field size has consistently remained between eight and 12 teams.
A patriotic fireworks show is scheduled to take place after 9 p.m. Friday.
Before the tournament action begins, Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium will host Bartlesville Radio’s annual KWON Night. A D-BAT League doubleheader against the Tulsa Barons is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Admission to the twin bill is free, and the ballpark will feature concession stand specials, including Indian tacos. Young fans will have the opportunity to serve as bat girls and bat boys.
Throughout the night, the radio station will award cash prizes for every Indians strikeout, single, double and home run. Additionally, a fan could take home $1,400 if an Indians player hits a home run over the KWON sign in left-center field.
This year’s Winget tournament field includes the Indians, Bartlesville Braves, Hillcrest, Branson, Elk City, Southern Elevation, Burkburnett, Kickapoo, Fort Smith and Mountain Home.
